The monumental statue of Fabre dominates the city from the Citadel of Namur.
Jan Fabre's work 'Searching for Utopia' was presented in Namur from March 14 to August 30, 2015 as part of the exhibition Facing time Rops / Fabre . The idea was to bring together two oeuvres and two periods: those of the Waal Félicien Rops (1833-1898) and the Flemish Jan Fabre (1958).
It forms a natural whole with the urban landscape. 'The turtle', as everyone now calls the statue, has become a place to walk and meet, and is a strong symbol of the city.
Since the end of the exhibition in 2015, the artwork has now become a permanent part of the Namur landscape. The image attracts a lot of attention , invites you to take a walk, brings passers-by and tourists together, and features in photo sessions that are distributed on social networks.
