Near the Pont de l'Évêché, in a wooded area, a monument to the dead of the First World War , erected by the province, dated 1924 and designed by V. Creten (architect), J(ules) Jourdain (sculptor) and H .Brognon (practitioner). A memorial inscription (1940 and 1945) dedicated to the victims of the Second World War was added later.
This monument dedicated "to the glory of the heroic dead of the province of Namur" pays tribute "to the heroism of the children of the country of Namur who died for the fatherland and is a symbol of eternal gratitude for their glorious sacrifice".
In the foreground is a woman on the ground representing the province of Namur , which was tortured during the German invasion, holding a child to her chest and throwing a vengeful fist. Above her, a winged spirit calls for victory. On either side of the obelisk , soldiers and horsemen launch an attack on the enemy. One rider was thrown off and his horse killed.
