L'Enjambée is a bicycle-pedestrian bridge opened to the public on May 11 , 2020 that crosses the Meuse and connects Namur and Jambes.
This consists of a metal box section 2 m wide with a height varying from 1 m to 40 cm in the center of the structure and at the base of the supports. The main span over the Maas is 100 m for a total length of 184 m.
On the Namur side, the pedestrian bridge overlooks a large open space still called Le Grognon . This is popular with skaters and provides access to the confluence of the Sambre and the Meuse . The space is also located in the immediate vicinity of the Hospice Saint-Gilles , where the Parliament of Wallonia is located. As an extension of the pedestrian bridge, the city center of Namur can be reached via the Pont du Musée overlooking the Halle Al'Chair or via the Pont de France which gives access to the Maison de la Culture de la Province de Namur (Delta) .
On the Jambes side, the pedestrian bridge provides direct access to the quays where the new Place de la Francophonie is located. To the right of the pedestrian bridge, walkers pass Villa Balat, a Belle Époque style house.
