Maud had a lot of freedom as the city poet, she says. “The city poetry role was a playground for me. For each project, we looked at what support was necessary. This poem was created on behalf of the MAS.” On the facade of the former refectory for ship repairers at the dry docks hangs the line ‘Sometimes it's just waiting, Stormkop, until the wind catches you’ in letters that allow the wind to have free play. “It’s a line from Stormkop. I wanted to create a poem in which I could let the aspects of the site converge. This was a place where boats were repaired. It is therefore a resting place for boats before they are sent back out to the open sea. At the same time, STORMKOP is here: an arts educational association for children. The poem speaks about the difficulty a mother sometimes faces in letting her child go, even if she wants to give her child freedom. ‘Stormkop’ is a beautiful word that can carry many interpretations.”
