Road cross Rue Bel-Air - Celles

This wooden cross stands in a niche in a garden wall on Rue Bel-Air in Celles, not far from the old school.

It is rare that there is a cross in a 'potale' (a niche) such as here. Usually there is only a statue in the niche. Here there is a cross and in the cross a niche has been incorporated with an image of a saint . It is unclear whether this concerns Saint Hadelin , who is usually depicted as a young cleric, in alb, dalmatic or mass robes, with staff and book, a dove on his shoulder or on his staff. Saint Hadelin had had a dream in the presence of Saint Remacle in which a radiant white dove with outstretched wings gently landed on his head.
