This is bunker CS 8 of the Comblain-Sougné sector of the 1st defense line of the city of Liège, la Position Fortifiée de Liège 1 (PFL 1).
This was the last sector of the PFL 1. This sector turned west into sector Sougné-Becco (SB). Sector CS consisted of 31 bunkers south and west of the once planned but never built Fort of Sougné-Remouchamps.
Bunker CS 8 was camouflaged with natural stone to blend in with the local houses on the right side of the Amblève River. The recesses on the side were to be used as windows . The bunker guarded the bridge over the Amblève river. The bunker is no longer accessible.
The walls and ceiling of the bunkers of the PFL line are 1.3 meters thick made of reinforced concrete. They could withstand shelling with 150mm grenades. They were built in the early 1930s.
When the bunkers lost their strategic value for the defense of Belgium after the war, the metal of the hatches and doors was sold as scrap.
