The monument from 1962 consists of a rough stone placed vertically; the dimensions are 2.20 m high x 1.00 m wide x 0.80 m thick.
The stone bears the following engraved and gilded inscription:
MEMBER
AUX
DEFENSEURS
DU PAYS
ARISTIDE BALLOT
+25-5-1940+
Above the inscription is a bronze head of a wild boar surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves.
The monument stands at the end of a brick slate path. The path is lined with lavender plants. The Belgian flag flies on a flagpole behind the monument. The property stands on the site of the village's former cemetery .
In 1872, land was purchased under Pastor Joseph Planchart for use as a cemetery. A cross was placed here in memory of the heroes of 1914-1918. It disappeared when the cemetery was decommissioned in 1934.
In 1962, on July 21, the memorial to all the heroes who had fallen for our country was unveiled on the site of the old cemetery, in the presence of the Harmonie Ste Barbe de Warmifontaine, the St-Pierre-aux-Liens de la Plante choir and all veterans of the Basse-Semois.
