Although we are on the outskirts of Sugny we are actually within the boundaries of the former municipality of Laforêt. The village's patron saint is Saint Agathe , whose feast day is February 5. The name therefore refers to the village.
The part of the forest surrounding the Fontaine Sainte Agathe is known as the Bois de la Croiginette (i.e. the Bois de la petite Croix) which also includes the Ban l'Abbé source .
Another name for the place where the water of the Sainte Agathe fountain flows is “La Louvière” , a name already used in a very old document, a deed from 1617, which concerns the demarcation of the “Ban l 'Abbé'. This place name was generally associated with trapping wolves in deep pits covered with branches.
