Around 1657, the Supreme Court of Sugny held a trial in which three women were accused of witchcraft . They were hanged and burned at the stake in the “Champ des Potaux”.
In 2017, the primary schools of Sugny and Pussemange were asked to participate in the Fureur de lire project as part of the Plan Lecture . The project consisted of inventing a story about witches and ended with the publication of the book “Trésor, où es-tu?” , the story of which was written by the children, and the inauguration of an educational walk based on the book.
The walk in the woods around the village of Sugny is interspersed with fragments from the book and wooden statues that depict the story. The village of Sugny is famous for its wood festival, its lumberjacks and its chainsaw sculptures, but also for the reenactment of the 'Witch Trials'.
