Tomb of Abbot Camille Muller - Domaine Marial Sugny

This tomb was dug in 1949 , the year in which Abbé Muller died.

Arriving in Sugny in 1905 , Abbé Muller began to restore religious practice in the village.
From about 1912, with the help of the villagers, he began building a cave, a replica of the cave at Lourdes , in the village's beautiful forest park.
Year after year he also had monuments, shrines and chapels built there and he decorated the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross of Christ's Passion. Upon his death on January 13, 1949, Abbé Muller was buried there.

The granite tomb consists of a slab (2.10 m x 1 m) surmounted by a cenotaph in the shape of a slightly smaller donkey's back, with an inscription in carved and gilded letters. At the head of the cenotaph, an embossed cross supports a bronze chalice and a cross in a host. The front, which is vertical, bears the abbot's photo medallion.
At the back of the grave there is a cross with a Christ in a rock garden.

Every year on August 16, a French-Belgian pilgrimage to the cave is organized. During the day there is a mass, a Stations of the Cross and a torchlight procession to the abbot's grave.
Around his grave, some villagers have created a small green and flowery space for meditation, while others continue to maintain the grave and its surroundings.
