Anyone looking for peace will find it in one of the most beautiful gardens in the province: the Kalmthout Arboretum. This botanical garden was established in 1856, when grower Charles Van Geert started a nursery with a collection of rare trees and plants. In the 20th century, Robert and Jelena de Belder expanded the estate into an internationally renowned arboretum.
Here you can make your walks as long or as short as you want. Today the park has thousands of plant species from all over the world. You walk along ponds and themed gardens. The arboretum also plays a role in nature research, education, and the preservation of rare species. During this period, you can enjoy the carpets of snowdrops, the blooming witch hazels, and the blossoms of cherry trees and magnolias. After the walk or bike ride, it is wonderful to relax on the terrace.
