'Along the Queen Astrid Park in Aalst, you walk to the Louis Paul Boonstraat. This street in the Watertoren neighborhood was renamed Louis Paul Boonstraat following the approval by the municipal council on September 6, 1979, at the request of the socialist Jan Van der Veken. Van der Veken justified his proposal as follows: “Due to the importance of Boon as a writer and as a person who, with his heart and deeds, was an Aalstener of the purest kind.” '
