This winding wooden boardwalk runs right through the Molenbroek. Not a straight, boring path, but an almost curling trail. This wet area is part of the nature reserve ‘De Spicht’ managed by Natuurpunt Lubbeek. It is located along the Molenbeek and is a particularly rich reserve, especially because we have the rare combination of a bog area influenced by calcareous springs here. Originally, large parts of the area were covered by poplars, intended for the industry. However, the consequences were negative for the diversity of fauna and flora. It was therefore necessary to chop down those trees and return to the original swamp forest and species-rich hay and meadowlands. And it pays off. Here you will not only find a rich life but also rare species such as the orange tip butterfly or the Alpine newt
