Blegny, known as Li Trembleu, is the mine that was last closed (1980) in the Limburg basin. Former miners have turned the place into a living museum of industrial archaeology. Under their guidance, you can, for example, visit the above-ground installations: lifeguard, showers, lamp room and technical service. You can also descend into the underground galleries together with the elevator car. The miners will even take you to the coal vein. At one time, 650 people brought up to a thousand tons of coal a day here. Blegny is now faded glory.
Blegny is known for the only coal mine in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine that can also be visited underground.
