One of the tourist attractions of Mol is undoubtedly the Zilvermeer. But did you know that this popular body of water was also a sand extraction pit in the nineteenth century? In 1910, extraction stopped and from 1930, beach tourism developed around the pit. Since 1959, it has officially been a provincial domain where tens of thousands of visitors come every year.
