This walk brings a nice piece of history of the First World War. We start at the roundabout and walk out of the Lanciersstraat towards Loksbergen. After 250m we come across the Heldenkapel. A chapel erected after the Second World War in honor of the fallen civilians and soldiers and the veterans of Halen. After 1 km we arrive in open fields. We turn off to the Betserbaan and head in the direction of two sights. First, the Cyclist memorial, in the verge of a hollow road, with a flowerbed and weeping willow on. Afterwards the most remarkable of this walk, the helmets of Halen. These are 44 concrete Stahlhelmen that symbolize the German occupation in Limburg. Each helmet represents one Limburg municipality and has been artistically adapted by local artists, associations and schools. We are then 1.5 km far. After admiring this, we continue and turn left into the Kannoniersstraat. This field road and some hollow roads take us to the panorama of this walk. In various places the whole of Halen can be seen. We cross the Kauwplasstraat and continue in the Oude Leuvensebaan. When we are 4 km far we turn right in the Rozenstraat. This street is an ascent of about 700m. When we are at the highest point we descend over 2.5 km along paved roads in open fields. Below we are 7.5km far. We take a small piece of Liebroekstraat (150m) and then turn right to the Stadsbeemd. This road takes us back to the starting point after 1.5 km.
