Combination of the Galloway walking route through the Kalkense Meersen and the Bergenmeersen in Wichelen.

The Galloway walking route takes you through phenomenal landscapes filled with rare birds and grazing cattle. The Schelde is never far away, providing a peaceful sound in the background.

Bergenmeersen is a young and unique nature reserve in Wichelen on the right bank of the Schelde: a controlled reduced tidal area. Since April 2013, a bit of Schelde water flows in and out of the area daily with the rhythm of the tides. This creates mudflats and salt marshes, which you can walk through thanks to a boardwalk. A unique experience!
