The route leads us to the basilica, which is recognizable from a distance by its two 56m high towers.
We cycle to the bicycle bridge over the Scheldt in Wetteren and follow the Scheldt westwards to junction 12. A quiet and pleasant route takes us via junctions 11, 8, 10, 73, and 99 to our destination. From junction 99, we cycle towards 30 but turn left towards the basilica.
For the return trip, we opt for a short and less busy route to quickly reach the banks of the Scheldt again.
