This Meetjesland Café Route takes you along the old railway towards the sports park and the beautiful Heldenpark where you can relax. Back towards the center, you get a unique view of the 16th-century protected cityscape with the town hall and the 'rootjen'. The nice cafes make this square the cozy Market of Eeklo. De Ramblas is named so because the café owner and many others dream of a kind of Ramblas for Meetjesland. While the square is certainly pleasant, making the busy N9 a pedestrian-friendly zone a bit further on remains a dream that Eeklo cherishes. The terrace of De Ramblas must be the most popular spot in the city because when De Ramblas is open, there are always people. Summer and winter.
