Between Saint-Denis and Casteau - Val and Oli

Beautiful walk in Hainaut. We are located north of Mons, in a wooded area. Departure from the village of Saint-Denis, in front of the old abbey. Passing through the woods, various very bucolic neighborhoods of the village of Casteau, before returning to the woods and coming back via the ponds of Saint-Denis.
This walk is quite suitable when it is rainy, as a good third of the route is on macadamized or paved paths, but with very little traffic. However, some muddy passages are possible if it has rained a lot.
The walk is not too long and can be complemented by a stroll within the immense grounds of the old abbey, whose entrance is located at the height of the starting parking lot. Founded in 1081, this abbey was occupied by a spinning mill between 1800 and 1950. It’s what later gave its name to the village. The site is managed by the cultural association "Les amis de l'Abbaye de Saint-Denis-en-Broqueroie". It is accessible during the day, provided that one stays on the paths, with dogs on a leash.
