Troll hunting between heather and Boom

De Schorre - A well-known provincial recreation area thanks to the even more famous festival 'Tommorowland'. Not only is this fairytale location 'the place to be' for this world event, but also outside this musical weekend (s) you can take a step through the old clay pits in Boom, to a world full of magic.

A search of about 5km takes you through the Troll Forest to the festival meadow in the 75 ha domain. We scour the nicest paths and cross some soggy mud pools, looking for the 7 Scandinavian giant trolls from 4 to 18m high.

However, there is no signage in the Troll Forest, because the intention is to look for Una, Jeuris, Mikil, Kamiel, Arvid, Hannes and Kleine Nora themselves. Although the downloadable map can be a useful tool in this forest with roads, barefoot paths and boardwalks, crisscrossing each other.

It also quickly becomes clear to us that these are old clay pits and definitely recommend waterproof and / or poor footwear. Especially after longer wet periods as was the case now.

The slippery course with some obstacles here and there, the beautiful artwork trolls that the youngest can climb and the climb to the watchtower on a huge clay hill, are guaranteed to be a fun trip. Although you have to be resistant to mud and dirty clothing yourself. Spare clothes for after the trip were certainly not a luxury...

During the winter period, the barefoot path is not maintained and certain sections are closed. Bad luck for us, but certainly an extra asset when you come here in the warmer periods.
