This cycling loop from the Herkenrode Abbey site guides you through the pond landscape of De Wijers, a green oasis of tranquility, but also heritage and art in various forms. The ponds were originally created for fish farming on behalf of the Herkenrode Abbey, and today the Zonhovense fish farms here still serve as living proof of that. The coal track takes you through the nature reserve De Teut and Ten Haagdoorn before descending towards 'Cycling through the Water' in Bokrijk. From there, we cycle back towards Hasselt, where street art colors the urban landscape.
