The mocking name 'Denderhoutemse Turfboeren' dates from the middle of the 19th century. Peat was cut into the swampy valleys of the Wildebeek and the Paardenbeek. The slabs of semi-decayed plant remains (peat) were dried. The peat farmers then sold this as cheap fuel. This path runs near the border from Ninove to Herlinckhove.
It can be soggy at times, don't forget your waterproof shoes!
