AzureA world-class painter, whose work is exhibited in the greatest museums: it is Adriaen Brouwer (ca 1604-1638). The name doesn't mean anything to you right away? Then you've probably heard of the Adriaen Brouwer beer festivals that put his hometown of Oudenaarde on stilts every summer, or at least the famous Adriaan Brouwer beers from Brouwerij Roman, the oldest family brewery in the country.
Adriaen Brouwer's In the Wheel cycle route also pays homage to the somewhat forgotten Flemish Master, with a stroll along the hills, fairytale forests, babbling streams and picturesque villages of the Flemish Ardennes. Good coffees couldn't be missed, as Adriaen wasn't averse to a pint (or two) and loved to paint beautiful hostel scenes.
