From Hageland to Kempen and Neteland

We begin with a surprisingly calm ride that is 90% car-free and completely flat. Initially through the chicory region, the rest of the route will almost exclusively be car-free, which can be considered quite exceptional in Central Belgium. It is a pleasure to ride along the sparkling waters of the Leuven-Dijle Canal, we follow the winding Demer River to Betekom, where we enjoy the green nature reserve of Meetshoven, in order to reach the old railway line Aarschot-Herentals. We cycle through a green corridor to the Albert Canal in Herentals. It is delightful to ride alongside the large and small vessels on the wide Albert Canal, which immerses us in an atmosphere of vastness and open nature. At the heavily meandering Kleine-Nete and the broad Netekanaal, we reach the vibrant city of Lier. We continue to follow the Nete to Rumst, where we take the bicycle bridge over the Dijle at the confluence of three rivers, to then reach the endpoint of one of our most popular relaxing bike tours along the Zenne. This bike tour has no dedicated signage.
