The Cross of Septroux

From the bridge of Aywaille, the walking path climbs through the Bois des Fossettes (oak, hornbeam, chestnut, larch). Once at the top, you will discover a series of meadows and hedges in the bocage landscape of Cwimont. More information can be found on the information board that is there. From the cross of Septroux, you have a beautiful view of Aywaille and the Ardennes in the background. The walk continues along the legendary fountain of Hayard and then crosses the hamlet of Chambralles. When leaving the village, you will see the stone piles of a former quarry. Les Tartines de Chambralles is a protected site with a great natural wealth: wall lizard, grass snake, but also dry grasslands with specific flora such as sunrose. In the old quarry lies a fossilized beach dating back 360 million years. An information board explains how that phenomenon occurred. The return to the starting point leads along the Amblève, where you might spot a beaver or a kingfisher!
