Welcome to an isolated region, that of the plateaus of la Croix-Scaille where the memory of the achievements of the Resistance Movement still lingers. In the heights of la Croix-Scaille, the influence of the continental climate can transform the landscape of the plateau into a tundra. The Jacob farm, nestled in a remote forest, was an oasis of peace for travelers but also a hideout for the Resistance: the Maquis. At la Croix-Scaille, the protection of the forest and the absence of habitation provided ideal hiding places for the Resistance. Huts formed a real enclosed camp: the walk runs through ‘the paths of shadow’ where educational boards recall the adventure and the dark period.
