Walk of 5 to 10km - On foot, around the Castle of Modave

From the castle, you follow the magnificent beech avenue, the natural extension of this heritage jewel. Then cross the forest that leads you to Petit-Modave, a village that has disappeared. At the decision of King Leopold II, wells were dug in the area to provide Brussels with healthy and pure water, but this came at the cost of the village’s demolition. The walk continues along the nature reserve via a beautiful winding path in an undergrowth of alder trees: the land is moist, the soil rich. At the top, you walk past a completely isolated large farm, set amidst the fields. At the foot of the descent awaits a surprise. Val Tibiémont gives the impression that time has stood still. This forgotten hamlet by the Hoyoux, surrounded by forest, offers one of the most beautiful sights of the Condroz: here, nothing disrupts the absolute tranquility.
