Around Vieux Jardin and Thier Bosset

From the center of Aywaille, this walk takes you to the arboretum of Thier Bosset with its extensive collection of trees. Along the way, from one of the many viewpoints, you will have a constantly changing view of the town you just left, and you will also encounter quite a few historical remains. For example, the small kiosk above the library offers a stunning view of the station neighborhood. A little further stands a bench from 1930 that is named after Marcellin La Garde, in memory of this romantic writer who was born in Sougné and whose fascinating stories continue to inspire the Ardennes folklore to this day. This wooded hill was once grazed by flocks of sheep that enjoyed the limestone grasslands! In this forest, the ruins of the castle de Vieux-Jardin are still visible, perhaps the remnants of an old lookout point or a trench-like defense.
