Walk of 5 to 10 km - From Binche to Vodgoriacum

Vodgoriacum is both an intriguing and an inspiring name. The term refers to the village of Waudrez during Roman times. It was a mandatory passage on the Roman road that connected Bavay with Cologne. This walk in the area of Binche takes you back in time. The history, the past, and the present of Binche are all covered. The diverse elements still bring the city its fame and popularity today. You start the 6.4 km walk at the town hall and its belfry, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You stroll along the city walls, considered one of the best-preserved city ramparts in Europe. You discover the towers and cellars of Bette, the Binchoise brewery, and the collegiate church of St. Ursmer. Be sure to stop by the Gallo-Roman Museum of Waudrez along the way. You will receive a warm welcome there. Enjoy the beautiful panoramas over the city and the region from the two viewpoints (Mount Sarah and Justice Hill).
