Do not leave Nismes without admiring the Fondry des Chiens. This large worn-out ravine-like pit is an exceptional geological site. Then you cross the stony and then grassy paths, after which you continue your journey on the Ardennes side of the valley. You will be amazed by the exceptional beauty of the landscapes in the Viroin valley. After passing the villages of Olloy-sur Viroin, Vierves-sur-Viroin, and Treignes, you reach the French Ardennes and the medieval village of Hierges. On this section of the Great Crossing, there are two bivouac zones: bivouac site "La Roche Trouée" and bivouac site "Mazée."
