This route starts in the center of Fontaine-l’Evêque and runs along a main road. The terril du pétria is classified as a Natura 2000 area and spans several hectares. You can find exceptional biodiversity there. A true green treasure with various ecological niches, such as ponds, pools, dry meadows, etc. The food chain is complete, from the microscopic creatures of dry or wet environments such as dragonflies and frogs, to the super-predators that are active during the day or at night, such as the buzzard, the kestrel, and the hobby, the owl, etc. At the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view of a succession of terrils.
