Solitary Trail

The route starts from the abbey of Aulne, quite steeply with a climb on a path that crosses the forest. The descent to the center of Leernes gives you the opportunity to catch your breath and discover a beautiful hamlet. On the square is a kiosk that comes alive every year on the first Sunday of July during the "Chaudeau", a folk festival. During the Chaudeau, the young people of the village pass through the doors to collect the ingredients of the "Tchaudia": a soup made from milk, sugar, eggs and mastelles (cinnamon rolls). The route continues with a slight climb after which you arrive at a forest that you only leave when you are back at the starting point. At the panorama near the Trou d'Aulne, the small hamlet of Hourpe becomes visible as well as a beautiful view of the Valley of Peace, which owes its name to the Cistercian monks who gave this name to the valley of the Sambre.
