From Waimes to Raeren

The green route follows an old railway line, a line with a rich history. After the start in Weywertz, there is a gentle ascent. Shortly after crossing the Warche, it continues leisurely along the Vennbahn. In Sourbrodt, the former station in Prussian style is a true discovery. In the past, this place buzzed with activity: the numerous tracks brought goods from Germany. Soldiers on leave also arrived here from Elsenborn. The signal house, the long platforms, and the old wagons that are still here give you an idea of the importance of this railway junction. The line runs right through the green lung of Wallonia: the nature reserve of the High Fens! You reach Kalterherberg and continue towards Monschau. Two wide loops eventually bring you to Raeren and its typical castle.
