Walk the old hunting domains of the dukes of Brabant in this remnant of the Coal Forest
A piece of Dijleland and perhaps from the end of 2023 the National Park Brabantse Wouden
A wooded walk with alternating expansive views through the beautiful Flemish Brabant Tervuren and its municipalities Duisburg and Vossem. A rolling landscape that is part of the Grape Region, located in the Green Belt around Brussels. We start by exploring a piece of the Sonian Forest, the Kapucijnenbos. An old monastery domain that we leave to step over the rural hill ridge of Duisburg towards Vossem. Arriving in Vossem, we take the river Voer back towards Tervuren, where we search for its splendid constructions and historical sites in the Park of Tervuren. From the Zevenster to the beautiful open park with ponds, concluding at the impressive AfricaMuseum and the village center of Tervuren with the Panquin barracks.
Sights along the way:
- Kapucijnenbos, piece of Sonian Forest or remnant of the Coal Forest in the former domain of the Capuchin monastery
- Duisburg, a municipality of Tervuren with its St. Catherine's Church from the 12th century
- Kouterweg and Zwette Jean, old steam tram between Vossem and Sint-Joris-Weert
- Vossem, municipality of Tervuren with the Gothic St. Paul's Church built around 1200
