AzureBetween Beernem and Ruiselede, south of Bruges, lies the nature reserve Gulke Putten in the municipality of Wingene. Some of the rarest animals in Flanders thrive there.
The nature reserve De Gulke Putten is located on the grounds of the Radio station Belradio. The nature reserve is located in the vicinity of the Sint-Pietersveld site and is managed by Natuurpunt. The area is rich in wet and dry heathland, heischral grasslands, coppice with flowery paths and clearings with orchid-rich hayland. The area is European protected as part of Natura 2000 area 'Forests, heaths and valley areas of Sandy Flanders: western part'.
