You can go in two directions in Aarschot with the Demer as your foothold: upstream through Schoonhoven Park to Testelt, or downstream to Werchter and its mouth in the Dijle. Or combine them into a big loop and pass three Demer beacons: in Langdorp, at the former docking place for ships, you enjoy the view at a meandering table no less than 35 meters long. The corten steel toll house on the Demerbrug in Betekom was once really there. In Werchter, you walk between the crowns of ancient oaks along a floating, winding path. This was once a stopping place for ship pullers.

Please note that the trail between nodes 14 and 51 is interrupted until the end of 2026.
