Take a walk past the places where folklorist René Mertens (1903–1995) lived and that were close to his heart. You’ll walk past the grassy fields on Assestraat, where, with a bit of luck, you might see a border collie herding sheep, and stop at the Whisky House for a genuine whiskey tasting. Be sure to visit De Montil sculpture garden, which features a marvelous collection of sculptures. Contemporary, expressive works by artists such as George Grard, Roel D’Haese, Bernar Venet, and Thomas Houseago.
