Departure at the starting place Sint-Genovevakerk of Oplinter for a trip through the fields towards the neighboring village of Sint-Margriete-Houtem. Along the way you are treated to beautiful views of rolling fields and orchards. The military cemetery contains 173 soldiers who died during the Battle of Sint-Margriete-Houtem on August 18, 1914, when the Belgian army tried to stop the advancing Germans at the Gete. Less turbulent is the history of the monastery Maagdendaal in Oplinter, a handsome monument with a beautiful baroque gatehouse.
