Welcome to Baal, village of cyclo-cross hero Sven Nys. The Balenberg is the highlight of this hike and a legendary spot for any cyclo-cross fanatic. This is where the annual Sven Nys Grand Prix is held and on the hill is the Sven Nys Cycling Center, a fascinating interactive center for and about off-road cycling. On the other flank you cross a unique nature reserve where you can spot the local cherub, the firefly. Walk along meadows and through woods and discover the village where this champion grew up. Listen to the carillon with 13 bells of the Sint-Annakerk which plays every 15 minutes.
