Forests, beautiful panoramas along the winding ribbon of the Sambre: during this walk around Thuin, you can fully enjoy nature. But also the history – from the abbey to the industrial heritage – is addressed.

Through dense forests with beautiful views, we explore La Thudinie, the surprisingly green region southwest of Charleroi. It will be a line walk between Landelies station and Thuin station. On the way, we pass the ruins of the abbey of Aulne. In the hamlet of Hourpes, we discover the remains of a rich industrial past of iron foundries, which lasted until 1928. An industrialist built a remarkable castle there in 1888, which was only recently restored. We finish in the old walled town of Thuin. It is best known for its belfry (1638) and the hanging gardens to the south of the city. Thuin became the largest inland port in the country in the 19th century. Via the skippers' quarter, we climb along the ancient walls of the fortress to the upper town with the belfries, the paths between the hanging gardens.
