In motion over & again at the language border in Haspengouw

A short bike tour in the gently rolling open landscape of Haspengouw. We start on the Walloon side from an ecologically renovated Bed and Breakfast In Motion in Bertrée, a suburb of Hannuit. Soon we reach a small path that briefly follows the Henrifontaine River until we reach the village of Cras-Avernas. There we choose the direction of Montenaken. Once we pass under the E 40, we find ourselves in Flemish territory. From the hill of Montenaken, the first landmark, there is a very wide view; the landscape spreads out like a patchwork quilt. Along paved field paths, we reach Wezeren, which has a church that must be seen. From there, the tour heads towards Waasmont, from where we quickly return to paved field paths. Wheat fields, flax, barley, and oat fields are everywhere. Just before the village of Waalshoutem, we take another southern direction and cross the E 40 again along a hollow path towards Bertrée.
