Trout walk: between picturesque Amblève and wide panoramas

You will have encountered this route elsewhere such as the Trout Walk or the Trout Route. This walk was developed by the Stavelot Tourist Office, but nowhere was the story of what you could see and experience along this walk. We fill that gap here.

You can start and finish at Stavelot Abbey. You can follow the walk on the basis of a yellow rectangle. The first part of the abbey up to the confluence of the Eau Rouge and the Amblève can be traversed both at the beginning and at the end. The part up to the spillway is rather boring, but afterwards you can not continue to walk happiness. If you want to shorten the walk and still do not want to lose your beauty, you can go to Camping De Challes.

The walk allows you to enjoy for a long time from the Amblève to the famous Passerelle to climb gently to the famous Rocher de Challes. You will then continue along the ridges or 'crete' for a long time with beautiful panoramas of the Warche valley. The promenade offers you a variety of enclosed forests, airy forest edges and open grounds. And on your way, you will come across half-timbered houses, pumps and crosses.

A number of parts of the road are paved. On the other hand, the banks of the Amblève can be quite muddy in prolonged wet weather. You can also expect muddy games in these conditions when you leave the village of Wavreumont to continue along the edge of the forest towards Challes. On this part there is a spring area whose water flows for several hundred meters along the path. There is no need to panic. With regular walking shoes, you can walk here.
