On Sunday, September 10, 2023, you can discover monuments throughout Flanders. In Beernem, we will go on a cycling tour of chapels. After all, what is more connected to our countryside than the many chapels you encounter along the way? This small heritage may soon be overlooked, but each chapel has its own story.
The Govaert Chapel on Beekstraat is the starting point of a cycling loop of 18.5 km that takes you past many Oedelem chapels. The Govaert Chapel was built in 1884 in its own park. In 1951, an ommegang was added to the park. The chapel is still in use and has many stories to tell. Come experience the magic of the site and in the meantime, you can also contribute your input on the restoration plans of the municipal administration.
