Starting from Lindenlaan, after a short 600 meters along Kasteelstraat, you immediately dive into the rural Retie. The route runs counterclockwise and meanders through a surprisingly varied landscape: from shady forest areas to open fields, a piece of heathland, and low-traffic streets that invite tranquility.

Along the way, you pass a series of characterful farms, silent witnesses of the agricultural past of the region. The Chapel of Pontfort forms a modest resting point, while the Kattebrug on the Pontfortse Dijk leads you over a narrow, winding brook — the Kleine Nete in its most modest form.

Although the Castle of Retie remains just out of sight, you can feel the historical layering of the surroundings in every path and panorama. The route is well signposted via junctions and combines nature experience with heritage.
