The journey starts in the village of Ourthe, not far from the spring of the river after which it is named. It is here that the Eastern Ourthe emerges from four small streams that flow down from the surrounding hills.
You reach the village of Gouvy via the Gouvy station (63) and then the old part of Gouvy (66). You leave the village towards the lake of Cherapont and follow the Eastern Ourthe from the heights to Rettigny (34), a small Ardennes village with many traditional quality farms.
The route then winds through the valley along the rock formation of Bistain and climbs up to Cetturu to reach the grassland plateau and the village of Steinbach (33). You gradually climb back to the ridge (which also corresponds to the border between the basin of the Meuse and the Rhine) and return to the RAVEL. Then towards the Belgian-Luxembourg border (27) which you follow to Wathermal to return to your starting point.
