A introduction to Hoogstraten (beguinage, cathedral, commercial center on the Vrijheid with sufficient horeca), made on a wet Tuesday in mid-December.
Walking to the east (towards Wortel and Castelré); many slow roads, once out of the center unpaved, so sometimes sandy, sometimes muddy. On the way, café in Holland (closed on Tuesdays). The beginning, and later the end of the Stip Stap path (over approximately 250 m) was super muddy, so high shoes or boots are needed in wet weather. You can extend the walk by about 3 km by going to the visitor center de Klapekster: at the end of Torendreef at km 5, take a right onto Koloniedreef; reconnect at Vennendreef. However, the section between km 5 and km 6 is worth it, and you can also consider returning. The last 1.5 km is a bit tedious.
