The citadel park of Namur

For those who only want to visit the historic center, there is a mapped out walk here .

Start at the tennis parking lot in l'avenue de l'ermitage, where there is also a bus stop .

We can visit the garden of scents, which with hundreds of flowers and fragrant plants was the former garden of the beautiful Château de Namur. We walk almost completely around the castle. We now start the descent. Just past a bench we turn right from the main road. We walk through hot forest and past a pumping station, and then return to the main road that we take up. Once under the arch, we turn right to the medieval-inspired garden of the two towers.

We arrive at the edge of the park with a view of Searching for Utopia , Jan Fabre's monumental turtle. We now climb back to the point of the rock where the flag is flying , and can enjoy a beautiful panorama including a view of the Passerelle l'enjambée.

We continue and walk through a tunnel and over a bridge to the barracks of the Citadel , where the Terra Nova information center is also located. Those who are lucky will see the flowering cherry trees of the arboretum in the spring. It takes some time to find the right road... We arrive at the hofweg and turn left into the Saint-Simon station .

We arrive at the events square with the Théâtre de Verdure and Stade des Jeux , and a little further the Forest Museum, which is now the city's wedding center . We continue to the beautiful Chapelle Sainte-Thérèse where we also have a beautiful view over the Sambre Valley , and we pass the Parc Reine Fabiola playground.
