Description by the author

A walk according to my proven recipe : a day trip along beautiful viewpoints and with 2 pleasant stops in between , good for a day trip of 16 km and the necessary elevation gain. The walk largely follows walk 6 of Aywaille (Chateau d'Amblève & Florzé), indicated with a red square, and this combined with GR. With the description below, the walk can be done without GPS.

Start at the church of Florzé , a sub-municipality of Rouvreux (which, strangely enough, has no church itself!) in Sprimont. But of course you can also start in Aywaille , which is accessible by train (you join the route at the bridge over the Amblève).

Behind the church, the castle of Florzé immediately looms large, with its stately corner towers, which we walk past. We follow walk 6 of Aywaille (Chateau d'Amblève & Florzé), indicated by a red square.

We walk through a beautiful piece of nature and a climb takes us to the highest point of the walk (300m) . Near the Ancien Career de la Falize we arrive at the GR15 , which we follow to the left until the Belvédère Walter Fostier , a beautiful viewpoint of the Amblève valley in Sougné-Remouchamps.

We continue along the sharp descent of the GR15 past the bunker and the Church of the Immaculate Conception to the banks of the Amblève.

A little further on, the GR575 and GR576A join the GR15, which we continue to follow. A memorial to the ferryman who drowned here brings a strange story to life.

It can be busy in the center of Sougné-Remouchamps , because this is where the famous Remouchamps caves are located. We can have a drink on a terrace before following the bridge over the Amblève until we cross the GR575/GR576A again. We follow this to the left past the Chateau de Montjardin to the hamlet of Hénumont.

Here we leave the GR but follow walk 15 (Hénumont - Vieux Jardin), indicated by the yellow square , to Dieupart. We walk on a plateau and on the other side of the valley we have a beautiful view of the steep rock walls of the Amblève valley.

We arrive in the hamlet of 'Dieupart', with its Lourdes Grotto and the main church of Aywaille. We walk past the cemetery towards Amblève to the camping site Domaine Chateau de Diapart. We no longer follow the walk but turn left to follow the Amblève downstream via the bank and cross it a little further. Here there is a terrace on the banks of the Amblève, La Cafet Aywaille (Aux trois Chênes) ...

We continue our way through the Parc Docteur Louis Thiry with its many monuments. This brings us back to walk 6 of Aywaille (Chateau d'Amblève & Florzé), indicated by a red square which we follow to our starting point. A climb leads us out of the valley to the Ruins of the Chateau d'Emblève (no spelling error!), where we climb back and forth to the panoramic viewpoint (not indicated).

Although the ruins are on top of a steep cliff , there is still a long climb to Rouvreux.

Rouvreux has little to offer... there isn't even a church... This brings us back to the starting point in Florzé.

Be sure to consult the information about the sights once you are there . They explain what you will see!
