Description by the author

Vresse-sur-Semois borders France, and less known are the villages of Sugny and Pussemange.

It was King Leopold II who implemented the policy that the French would be immediately impressed upon entering Belgium . That is why extra attention was paid to the border villages. Pussemange with its cathedral-like church and formerly impressive station building is an example of this.

Moreover, Sugny is home to a remarkable place of pilgrimage: the Domaine Marial.

The region is also known for its wash houses. In Pussemange one of the two existing pluvium washing places in Belgium can be seen.

Both are the purpose of this walk. There are catering establishments in both Sugny and Pussemange . The walk is a combination of walk 50 (green-white-green) and 48 (red block) and is therefore signposted.

We start in Bagimont. We follow walk 50 ( green-white-green ) to Sugny. There are some war memorials at the church. We go past some old drinking troughs to the Domaine Marial . The Lourdes Grotto , Holy Stairs, Golgotha and Shrine of Sainte-Thérèse are just some of the sights...

We make a small loop with walk 48 ( red block ). We walk to the Lac de Chalaye with its picnic area and wash house. We return to Sugny through the Bois des Crutins and along the Rau du moulin du Gigue .

Back in Sugny we look for walk 50 again ( green-white-green), which we now follow further to the starting point.

In Pussemange, the impressive church , which with its 2 towers gives the impression of a cathedral , is unfortunately not open to visitors. We continue past the old wash house to Bagimont while we cross the border with France.

Be sure to consult the information about the sights once you are there. She explains what you will see.
